About the club

We screen films at 7.30pm on the last Thursday of the month. Find us at the Grove Centre in Sydenham, (just off Kirkdale). Grab a drink or some nibbles and share an evening watching some of the best modern, classic and foreign language movies around.

In the beginning…

On 12 May 2011, we ran an online survey to find out what kind of film club the people of Sydenham wanted. Here’s what you told us…

And thus, Sydenham Film Club was born. Founded by Joyce Treasure, who was instrumental in setting up funding and getting the first team together, Sydenham Film Club has seen a few changes since but is still going strong. We aim to bring interesting films to the local community at an affordable price, and often collaborate with organisations like Sydenham Arts for screenings during festivals or summer.

We have special screenings for our members, a lively pub quiz and there’s usually great discussions after the films too!

Who we are

Since autumn 2015, our team is:

  • Coordinator: Kat Andreakou
  • Secretary: Alan Simmons
  • Treasurer: Marlon Andre Seton
  • Vice chair/design: Nina Bosanac
  • Technical advisor: Piers Bromley

If you have ideas for film screenings, please get in touch (either by email or by talking to us at a screening). We’d love to hear from you! Likewise, if you have any suggestions for how you’d like to see us take Sydenham Film Club forward, or would like to volunteer to help out, we’d love to hear from you. Just email us: info@sydenhamfilmclub.org
